I own the Crown Select w/ up and down-light w/ remote control (I recommend getting a fan w/ the K55XL motor if you plan on using the fan regularly; in a room used frequently or in bedroom. I use in master bedroom for main air circulation. Live in Brooklyn NY and almost never use air conditioner (unless brutally hot at night). Emerson ceiling fan used for main air circulation in tandem with a window fan (window fan brings in the "fresh" cooler evening/night air.) Have been using the ceiling fan for 16 years without any problems. Well balanced (from factory), quiet operation, good speed options, cast housing (looks beautiful - although function is my greatest criteria for excellence in a ceiling fan). As I write this (October 2016), in the 16th year of running the fan, the rubber spoke flywheel needs replacement (the inner metal bushing can loose from the rubber spoke part (I actually man attempt to re-glue it as first attempt of repair). If re-gluing doesn't work - no biggie; new rubber flywheel $45.00(shipped or find a local dealer and just pay tax). How to replace?....remove fan from it's hanger, turn upside down and rest on top of tall open can or box (tall enough to allow the down to hang freely into the can or box) and disassemble light housing as instructions show on YouTube video; "piece-of -cake". The thing will run another 16 or so years perfectly. The company will warranty the motor itself for it's predicted lifetime (the motor will likely run for 50+ trouble free years - if not abused). Recommend getting the longest blades the fan will take - better air movement. This fan runs "old-school". One of the best appliances I own. Extremely happy with it!
